We're brothers and two of the four co-founders of Rocketspark, a platform that's helped thousands of designers build websites for their clients. Before that, we ran our own freelance design business, learning the hard way about pricing, clients, and what it really takes to make freelancing work.
Over the years, we've had countless conversations with designers facing the same challenges we did. We realised that while there's plenty of generic business advice out there, there wasn't much written specifically for graphic designers navigating the unique challenges of our industry. So we wrote the book we wish we'd had.
From freelancing to feeling in control (most of the time)
Our journey wasn't a straight line. We started like most designers: excited to create, but unsure how to run a business. We undercharged. We took on bad clients. We worked weekends to meet unrealistic deadlines.
But slowly, we built systems. We learned how to talk about money without sweating. We discovered that setting boundaries actually made clients respect us more.
